RE/MAX CELEBRATES 25 YEARS IN SOUTH AFRICA
The world’s largest real estate franchise, RE/MAX, celebrates a milestone in its history today as the brand enters its twenty-fifth year of operations within the Southern Africa region. On this day, over 125,000 agents in over 110 countries across the globe celebrate Founders Day, the annual celebration of the start of the RE/MAX brand, which occurred on January 30, 1973.
Since then, the brand has grown into the largest global real estate group and has been recognised for the past eight consecutive years as the leading real estate franchise in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500®. As things stand today, nobody in the world sells more real estate than RE/MAX.
Locally, RE/MAX began operating in the South African market in 1995. “Our founding members, Peter and Val Gilmour, opened the first RE/MAX office in Cape Town – the Broker/Owners of this office are still part of the brand today – and slowly expanded the brand into other regions across Southern Africa. Today, thanks to their groundwork, we have grown to over 2,400 agents operating out of 165 offices licensed in five countries in the region. Compared to the number of agents of our competitors, we are the largest real estate company by over 1,000 agents and we complete more sales than any other real estate brand operating in our region,” explains current Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, Adrian Goslett.
To celebrate the ongoing success of the brand and to honour both the founding and existing members of the network who continue to enable the brand’s success, RE/MAX will hold a nation-wide convention at Sun City in February 2020. Speaking into why conventions are important, Adam Contos, CEO of RE/MAX Holdings, Inc, says the following: “You golf better when you play with better golfers. Period. In our business, being part of a productive culture makes you more productive. It’s the power of association, and it’s very real.”
It’s this power of association that helps agents who join the RE/MAX brand become top performing agents in the industry.
